Yakitori Sauce

Recipe by Michael Weldon

Serves 4 | Prep 30 minutes | pot Cook 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 400g boneless chicken thigh, cubed
  • 2 leek stalks
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp cooking oil
  • 10 tbsp AYAM™ Yakitori Sauce 210ml
  • 12 pcs wooden skewers

Method:

Preparation of Skewers:

  1. Soak wooden skewers in water for 10 minutes, to prevent them from burning.
  2. Cut the stalks of leeks into 2cm chunks.
  3. Cut chicken into 2cm cubes.
  4. Marinate the chicken and leek in a bowl with salt for 10 minutes.
  5. Thread and alternate the chicken cubes and leek on a skewer.

Cooking Yakitori Chicken:

  1. Heat oil over medium heat in a pan.
  2. Cook 4-5 skewers at a time.
  3. Pan fry each side of the skewers for 2 minutes, or until the chicken and leeks turn golden brown or slightly charred.
  4. On a low heat, lightly brush yakitori sauce onto skewers.
  5. Flip skewer and pan fry for 1 minute.
  6. Repeat step 4-5 for 3 more times.
  7. Garnish with leek. Serve.

Tips: Substitute prawns for chicken, tofu, or extra vegetables.
